How I Can Help
In my advocacy practice, I specialize in healthcare guidance and financial navigation. I perform a initial consultation with each client to ensure that my services fit their needs. Once the patient decides to proceed with services, I conduct an intake assessment where we can dive deeper into their diagnosis list, concerns, and current treatment regimen. We will also take time to identify their desired outcome as I maintain a goals-oriented practice. Following each intake assessment, clients receive a personalized action plan outlining specific tasks we will work on together, designed to simplify their lives and ensure optimal care. With a focus on financial navigation, I assist clients in meticulously comparing explanations of benefits with their bills to guarantee accuracy, negotiate and consolidate bills, and establish manageable payment plans. On the healthcare guidance front, I facilitate seamless communication between specialists, aid in exploring treatment options, and provide insightful education on diagnoses. Additionally, I prepare clients for specialist visits by maintaining symptom lists and questions and proactively obtaining and consolidating medical records. In essence, my healthcare guidance and financial navigation services are tailored to empower clients by ensuring accuracy in financial matters, fostering effective communication with specialists, and providing comprehensive support for informed decision-making in their healthcare journey.

Why I Became A Professional Health Care Advocate
My journey into patient advocacy stems from a deeply personal odyssey of health challenges that defined my early adulthood. Faced with frequent illnesses and worsening symptoms as I entered my adult years, my pursuit of answers led me through countless doctor's appointments, unraveling revelations over the course of six years. Empowered by newfound information, I assumed the role of my own advocate, navigating extensive research, preparing for appointments, and asserting my needs, ultimately leading to the diagnoses of hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos, POTS, and endometriosis. Although I have received multiple difficult diagnoses, I do not let these conditions define my abilities, goals, or dreams. I pursue my heart's desires passionately just as I encourage each of my clients to do.

This transformative experience became my missing puzzle piece, propelling me toward patient advocacy. Inspired by my grandmother Josephine, with whom I shared an incredibly close bond, I learned invaluable lessons in strength, perseverance, and unconditional love. Actively involved in her care, attending appointments, administering medications, and learning about her conditions, I found profound fulfillment in helping someone I cherish dearly to this day. This experience, coupled with my personal health journey, has fueled my commitment to empowering others in navigating their health challenges. This has also inspired me to pursue a Board Certified Patient Advocate Certification. I will be sitting for the exam in March 2024, a testament to my dedication to the patient advocacy profession and lifelong learning.

Additional Skills
My additional skills and unique attributes revolve around a genuine passion for conditions typically associated with neurodiversity, such as Ehlers-Danlos syndromes, Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia, Mast Cell Activation Disorders, as well as mental health diagnoses including autism, ADHD, OCD, and more. As a mental health warrior and advocate, alongside being neurodiverse myself, I bring a profound understanding and empathy to those navigating the challenges of mental health and chronic illnesses. This firsthand experience equips me with insights that go beyond professional knowledge, allowing me to connect on a deeper level with individuals facing similar journeys. My commitment extends to supporting mental health warriors, neurodiverse individuals, and those grappling with chronic illnesses, fostering a compassionate and personalized approach to healthcare advocacy that addresses both physical and mental well-being.
Professional Affiliations
My love of caring for others started at the young age of 14 when I would spend approximately 5 hours a week volunteering at a local hospital where I transported patients to and from their appointment destinations within the hospital. This allowed me to hear their stories, show compassion for their experiences, and learn more about the healthcare industry. Beyond that, I bring a wealth of experience to your healthcare journey. With 7 years as a medical receptionist and clinical support team member, I honed my skills in patient care facilitation, medical records management, and collaborated with doctors to ensure seamless care. My commitment to professional excellence is underscored by my membership with the American Alliance of Professional Health Advocates and my adherence to the Health Advocate's Code of Conduct and Professional Standards. Beyond professional qualifications, I draw from over a decade of personal lived experience as a chronically ill individual and healthcare advocate for both myself and my loved ones. Additionally, my 10-plus years of dedicated care for my grandmother, including administering medications and accompanying her to medical appointments, showcases my unwavering dedication to holistic healthcare support.
