Why I Became A Professional Health Care Advocate
My daughter was in a car accident in 2005 and her care was not the best. I recall being contacted by a Dr when flew in from California where I had a travel assignment. The Dr said, " get down here now, I need this bed, she's brain dead". In the AM, I found that my daughter was on continuous sedation with propofol, Valium and morphine. I pointed that out to the Dr and spoke with Chief of Medicine. My daughter did die.
After this experience, I made it my mission to advocate and support others in their healthcare journey.
I switched to being a home health case manager and became a Certified Case Manager as well.
I help others make sense of the health care system and how to navigate.
