Why I Became A Professional Health Care Advocate
Connection from Latin connectere means, to fasten together, bind.

I began my career in healthcare by collaborating with a teen diagnosed with Autism, his family and local and government agencies to support him and connect him with his community. I quickly knew that this was a step into my purpose.

A professional now with 20 years of clinical and residential management in a post acute medical facility, I have been honored to serve adults, children and families. I have met families in the midst of crisis and after years for trying to manage health concerns. All of them had one thing in common, they needed, support, guidance and connection.

August 2014. I received the phone call no one wants to receive. My father on the other end of the phone telling me I needed to talk with my mother who would soon be put into an air ambulance and flown 2 hours away for major heart surgery. I had no idea if I would ever talk to her again. I can remember walking into her ICU room. The sights, the sounds, the smells. It will forever live in my head and heart. One of the things that caught my eye was the "gloves" on her hands. They resembled boxing gloves and I immediately referred to them as her "fighting gloves." Before those fighting gloves could come off, there was advocacy. I stepped out of my "career" hat and into my daughter hat. I was ready to help my parents navigate what would be many years of medical procedures and multiple doctors office visits.

The current healthcare system can be overwhelming and intimidating. After discovering the critical need for advocacy through my career and personal experience I knew I was called to do more.

Recently I stepped further into my purpose by beginning Connection Care Services. Where I will advocate for your unique goals and needs, while prioritizing your wellness, recovery and quality of life.
