How I Can Help
~Bettering Healthcare for Young People in Nevada~

A+J Patient Advocacy is on a mission to prepare generations of young people to be informed health consumers. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit agency, we provide free health navigation, education, and advocacy services to children, teens, young adults, and their families.

Our vision of the U.S. healthcare system is one that provides appropriate, timely, equitable, and affordable care to all young people and their families. We promote access to care for all young people, especially the most marginalized populations, increase their engagement and knowledge, and assist their families in maximizing health outcomes.

We believe that every young person should receive appropriate and timely healthcare services regardless of geography, family income, race, ethnicity, sex, gender, sexual orientation, ability, diagnosis, or complexity of condition.

We know it is important for parents, guardians, siblings, spouses, partners, and other supportive individuals to participate in our services alongside the young person.

We will ensure our services remain free for young people and their families. Our work is only done when they thrive.

Our advocate will listen, learn about your needs, and create a plan to help you thrive. All services are fully customized to the unique needs of the patient. We believe in a collaborative approach to healthcare and happily work with your medical team, social service providers, education team, and advocates in other fields. A+J is also a member of Unite Nevada and will refer patients and families to additional social services as needed.

Why I Became A Professional Health Care Advocate
Rebeka Acosta is the first Board Certified Patient Advocate in Nevada and one of few advocates in the U.S. working with children. After a 15-year career in healthcare administration, she welcomed two children to her family with congenital conditions and was thrust into the deep end of the pediatric healthcare system. Heart surgeries, airway surgeries, and traveling out-of-state for care took over every aspect of family life for the next decade.

When Rebeka returned to the workforce, patient advocacy was the path in which she could share the information she had learned with other families in need. She earned her BCPA credentials in 2018 and founded A+J Patient Advocacy in 2021.
